Getting Help
This online course requires no additional components or fonts--just a good browser and a computer that can play sound and video. Most of the popular Web browsers on desktop computers should work, as well as many common browsers used on mobile devices.
If the first browser you try does not display our fonts properly or shows some other irregularity, just try a different browser. We keep up with the constantly shifting Internet technologies, so if you have a complaint about a certain browser, please let us know. Some browsers have an option that disallows the use of Web fonts. For example, in Internet Explorer 9 and 10 this option is under Tools > Internet Options > General > Accessibility > Formatting.
Do not turn off JavaScript and cookies in your browser's settings. Both of these technologies are required for this course.
Some browsers have a special "compatibility" or "quirks" mode. This course will probably not work if you turn that on because it forces your browser to act like an older version. For example, in Internet Explorer 9, this option is under Tools > Compatibility View and may also be controlled by a button that is next to the Refresh button (easily clicked by mistake).
Most buttons and other controls in this application have tooltips (very brief descriptions of the control's function). A tooltip appears automatically if you hold the mouse pointer over the control for half a second.
If you copy Russian text from a transcript window or a Guided Reading panel to your word processor, some of the letters are replaced with non-Russian characters, and the text becomes almost unreadable. This happens because the Unicode character set used on the Internet has no provisions for Russian accented vowels. Consequently, this Web site uses a custom font that is delivered to your browser but is not accessible to your word processor. If you want to install this font on your own computer, please contact Lexicon Bridge Publishers. We also have a keyboard program for typing accented vowels when using our custom fonts.
