Free Russian Screen & Printer Fonts
Most modern computers come with Cyrillic fonts already installed, although they may
need to be activated. You may also download and install our free fonts. They
can be used with Unicode, Windows Cyrillic 1251, and Apple Cyrillic applications.
Another advantage of these fonts is that they include accented Russian vowels
(for marking primary and secondary word stress).
- Download a compressed font archive by clicking one of the links below.
Your browser may ask where you want to save the archive; it may also offer
to open the archive and will then ask where you want to save the font files.
In either case, you should select a convenient location on your computer,
e.g. C:\ in Windows or Desktop on a Macintosh. Do not use Desktop or My Documents in Windows.
- If you saved the compressed downloaded archive, find the archive on your computer and double-click
it, then follow the onscreen prompts to uncompress the archive. Select a convenient location for the uncompressed font files,
e.g. C:\ in Windows or Desktop on a Macintosh. Do not use Desktop or My Documents in Windows.
- Install the fonts:
- Windows: Click Start, Settings, Control Panel. Double-click Fonts. Click the File menu and use the Install New Font command to install your new fonts.
You will be asked to navigate to the folder where your new fonts are stored. When the font names are displayed,
click Select All, then click OK.
- Macintosh: Double-click the name of the font file. When FontBook opens, click Install Font.
That's all you need to do in order to use our fonts in your wordprocessor.
Instructions for using them in your Web browser are below. Similar steps are required for
using the fonts in email programs, but they differ from one email program to another.
Your World Wide Web browser will display Russian text in Russian
if you install the appropriate font and tell the browser to use it.
Most of our Web pages require a special font because they include Russian accented vowels.
